Biography:
Prosper T. Mataruse is a PhD. Candidate and lecturer in the Department of Community and Social Development at the University of Zimbabwe. He has substantial research experience focusing on social and ecological dynamics, institutional management and governance of natural resources. His recent involvement has been in the Dynamics of Soil Carbon Sequestration in Tropical and Temperate Farming Systems (DSCATT) project. His specific focus in the project has been investigating exchanges in social and agro-ecological systems, uncovering institutional factors shaping the interaction between smallholder farmers and the ecological systems in order to create an enabling environment for effective carbon sequestering agricultural systems. Prosper has enhanced his scholarly presence through scientific publications, local, regional and international conferences on sustainable agricultural intensification, climate change and governance of the commons. With his experience in community engagement through collaborative methods, he is in a position to advance social innovation initiatives and pathways in rural communities.
