Biography:

Mr. Webster Gumindoga is a lecturer and researcher at the University of Zimbabwe’s Construction and Civil Engineering Department. He is the coordinator of the postgraduate programmes in water management at the University of Zimbabwe where he has challenged regional students and researchers to use state of the art and open-source space data to solve water related challenges faced by the communities and industry. With the application of GIS and Remote Sensing, Webster’s research interests are in the areas of: spatial and quantitative hydrology, water balance assessment and monitoring, hydrological and climate modelling, quantification of water cycle components (rainfall, soil moisture and ET), use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones) for water resources assessments, landcover analysis as well as development of geospatial dashboards for integrated urban water and infrastructure management.

Mr. Gumindoga is also a consultant who has been seconded as a GIS mentor to many government institutions and developmental partners. He has over 60 publications in international journals, numerous conference papers, panel and guest talks and is the Chief Editor of the Journal of Environmental Management in Zimbabwe (JEMZ).
