Biography:

Mr. Mackenzie T. Rusero, is a licensed and practicing social worker and a university lecturer/academic who has more than 3 years working experience. He has a special research interests in child protection, social security, disability mainstreaming, community development, corporate social responsibility and clinical social work amongst others. As from August 2018, he has been an academic staff member with the Department of Social Work occupying various capacities. Mr. Rusero has worked as a Lead In-Country Research Assistant for Global Message Design Consultancy for 3 years. In that capacity, he was engaged in researching and consulting on various portfolios including key populations’ access to sexual reproductive health care and disaster risk assessment for Cyclone Idai amongst others. He also served as a Founding Director for Hope Foundation Education Trust, an education support organisation based in Chiredzi. Mackenzie’s doctoral study looks into the place of community volunteers in the up streaming of palliative care in the high-density areas of Harare. He is also a proud member of the TRANSFORM community, an ILO affiliated social development programme aiming at advancing access to the right of social protection. He currently serves on the Departmental Research and Innovation committee as well as the Faculty’s Computer Committee. Some of the consultations done to date include an ex-ante evaluation of Breaking down Barriers to Inclusive Education and issues of accessibility among Persons with Disabilities
