Biography:

Dr Brenda Muchabveyo is a Full-Time lecturer in the Department of Community and Social Development, Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Zimbabwe. Her doctoral study was based on the Sociology of Medicine and Alternative Healthcare in rural societies. She focused on the Maternal Health Care Services Provided in Waiting Mothers’ Shelters in Mutasa District, Manicaland, Zimbabwe. She is currently the Programme Coordinator of MSc Gender, Social Systems and Development (MGD). She is also the Coordinator of the Anthropological Association of Students at the University of Zimbabwe. Dr Muchabveyo’s research interests revolve around Gender Studies, Public Health, Alternative Health Care in indigenous societies, and Sexual and Reproductive Health discourses.
